A color ring is a quality issue that occurs at the end face of the film roll due to a certain degree of contamination inside or outside the film, resulting in color rings after slitting and winding. The sources of film surface contamination come from two aspects: one is generated during the film-making process, where color rings produced in the earlier stages of film-making, such as raw materials, feeding systems, extrusion systems, and die flow channels, generally cause contamination to the interior (core layer) of the film. The color rings generated in the later stages of film-making and the slitting process mainly cause contamination to the exterior (surface) of the film.

Factors causing color rings in film rolls due to slitting include:

2.Contamination of slitting equipment: Due to dust pollution in the slitting workshop, as well as the operation of slitting equipment and the friction with the film generating static electricity that attracts dust, slitting equipment continuously accumulates more and more dust. When the accumulation reaches a certain level and is not cleaned in time, it can contaminate the slitting film roll and form color rings. Additionally, the shedding of debris from aging and hardened roller surfaces can also cause color rings to appear on the film roll.

3.Contamination of the slitting environment: During the slitting process, the product can be affected by some accidental sources of contamination, such as dust falling from the ceiling of the slitting machine or exhaust pollution from diesel forklifts, which can spread through the air and contaminate the slitting product, forming color rings.

To effectively reduce the impact of color rings on product quality, the following measures must be taken:

1Regularly perform cleaning work to maintain the hygiene of the workshop environment and the cleanliness of the machines;

2Prohibit frequently opening the purification room door and maintain a good habit of closing the door promptly;

3The contaminated surface layer of the mother roll must be removed before the film is drawn for slitting to avoid contaminating the slitting machine with dirt from the surface layer;

4Require diesel forklifts that emit black smoke to stay away from the workshop perimeter to prevent oil and smoke from contaminating the film surface.

5Regularly check the static eliminators.
