1.Film Slitting MachineRagged Edge

The main reason for ragged edges is that the slitting knife is too dull, and replacing the knife can solve the problem. Different modelsof film have different degrees of wear on the knife due to thickness; the thicker the film, the greater the wear on the knife. Therefore, it is necessaryto adjust the blade slot position or replace the blade in a timely manner according to different slitting objects to avoid the occurrence of ragged edge products. Take preventive measures, budget the blade replacement cycle, and adjust or replace the blade before problems arise to reduce losses. Another reason for ragged edges is the quality of the mother roll winding.

 

First, when the mother roll product wrinkles, if the film has not been effectively flattened when it reaches the knife slot roller during the slitting process, ragged edges are likely to occur;

Second, when the film is consistently too thick or too thin, the film may not adhere to the roller at the knife slot, which can also easily lead to ragged edges. Additionally, the thinner the film, the lower its stiffness, thus increasing the likelihood of ragged edges.

Ragged edge products not only affect appearance but also directly impact usage; the edges of the film appear serrated, and the film roll is prone to breakage during use, which can have very serious consequences.

Additionally, we must pay attention to protecting the end face during the movement of the film roll. Careless operation can cause notches on the film end face, and these notches are highly concealed, making the problem difficult to detect before it reaches the user, which can significantly affect product usage.

2.Film Slitting MachineCurling Edges 

Curling occurs at the edge of the film roll, and the reasons for curling are:

1; the edges of the excessively thick film curl up due to the accumulation during winding;

2; if the winding is too tight, the curling phenomenon can be improved by reducing tension and increasing speed during slitting;

3; if the knife is too dull, stretching occurs at the cut during slitting, causing the edges of the film roll to curl outward after winding, leading to curling; at this time, the knife should be replaced promptly to avoid the occurrence of curling;

4; incorrect installation of the tool, such as the blade being too close to the edge of the knife slot, leading to dulling, etc. Using a round knife for slitting can improve the curling problem of the film roll.
