Ouellette stated that on the 8th, he brought his friend Joseph Pazner's ashes in a plastic bag to the Rogers Centre to watch the Blue Jays play against the Detroit Tigers. Ouellette and Pazner had been Blue Jays fans since childhood, and Pazner passed away last February.
Ouellette expressed that he thought scattering Pazner's ashes at his beloved baseball field was a great way to commemorate him, especially during the game against the Tigers, as both of them disliked the Tigers. Ouellette said he did not expect this action to be criticized by Blue Jays fans.
According to reports, during the 7th inning break, Ouellette walked from his seat to the edge of the baseball field, near the bullpen, holding Pazner's ashes, and scattered them on the ground.
