In recent years, China's plastic machinery industry has developed rapidly, with industry giants like Haitian becoming leaders on the international stage, and the overall manufacturing level in the industry has steadily increased. However, the advantage in output quantity cannot conceal the lack of high-end products. In 2010, the trade deficit of this major plastic machinery country reached as high as 900 million USD, with the import amount of plastic machinery nearly twice that of exports. According to data recently released by customs, last year China imported a total of 15,000 plastic processing machines and exported 44,000 machines, with import and export values of 2 billion USD and 1.1 billion USD, respectively. The main sources of plastic machinery imports are Japan, Germany, and Taiwan, which together account for 80% of the total import value. Exports are mainly targeted at developing countries such as Brazil, Iran, India, Turkey, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. Injection molding machines are the main products in the plastic machinery industry, accounting for about half of the total import and export value of plastic machinery. Despite India continuing to impose anti-dumping measures on Chinese injection molding machines, China's injection molding machine exports still successfully grew by over 70% in 2010.
